In Libya, UWC is currently represented by a group of UWC volunteers - foreign and Libyan alike - and enjoys the support of a number of foreign and Libyan cultural institutions.

In 2009, UWC Libyan national committee selected the first two Libyan students who attended colleges in Italy and Hong Kong. In 2010, four Libyans were accepted to attend the UWCs in Canada, the Netherlands, UK, and Bosnia. When these first generations of Libyans graduate from the United World Colleges, they too will become involved in the activities of the Libyan National Committee

The UWC Spanish National Committee also supported financially the creation of a Libyan National Committee.
